What if you had a long lost twin whom you had no idea about? What if she disappeared the same day you were supposed to meet? How far would you go to find out what happened? The Lying Game by Sara Shepard has many questions and keeps readers guessing constantly. If you like mysteries and secrets mixed with love pick up this book with no questioning.
Sutton Mercer- ruler of the school, Ms. Popular, snobby, bratty, rich chick that’s full of herself. She only cares about herself and her friends- goes missing the same day her and her sister Emma were suppose to meet. Emma on the other hand, Sutton's identical twin sister, has had a rough past from being shoved around from one foster home to another and just wanted a good family and friends she can trust. She has a lot of faith in people that they can change and is very cautious who she is involved with. Emma was sweet and innocent, and had good intentions and a great big heart. Ethan, a bad boy who has had a past of getting in some trouble with the law, falls head over heels for Sutton originally, but then finds out that its now Emma. Ethan really started to fall for who Emma really was and gets over Sutton. Ethan said he wanted to spend the rest of his life with Emma. Ethan changed his ways upon meeting Emma, but Ethan gets blamed for everything bad that happens because of his past even if he didn’t do it.
Sara Shepard has the setting in Arizona where the sun is scorching hot, dresses are popular, and where Sutton rules the school. When Sara writes about the setting I can easily relate and picture it because of the description she puts in. I can also easily relate to it because it’s written in the present time. Every little detail she writes about makes the setting come alive in my head.
The genre of the book is mystery, definitely mystery. This book is filled with questions who, what, and why. Everything you can ask for about a great mystery book is right here. I would unquestionably recommend this book to everyone. It’s a remarkable book that readers will love.
