Legend - Review by Gary Bell

Legend
By Marie Lu
Review by Gary Bell

Legend is a thrilling novel based in the future. The romantic story allows a new perspective on relationships. When a wanted criminal picks up another teammate, with no knowledge that she’s an undercover government agent, his life gets a new twist.
Our first main character, Day is legally dead. After escaping his predicted fate, he lives to provide for himself and his family.
The government knows of Day’s existence but they have no information on him besides that of him being dead. The government’s child prodigy, June, is very high up and is assigned to catch him. By throwing herself undercover, she is determined to catch her prey.
June scored extremely high on her test and in turn was put into only the best colleges. Expected to be one of the best ever, she has a hazardous rebel side.
The author has a very warming sense of writing in the way that you don’t feel like an intruder or stranger. You become one of the characters yourself. The writer uses the setting and language to make you feel like the whole display is around you. The characters react to every situation with such description that you can see their fluid motions.
The theme of this book seems to be love. The two characters (on opposite sides of the spectrum) form a blossoming relationship that complicates the situation.
Author, Marie Lu, wrote this novel after being inspired by Gone With The Wind. It’s her first book. She lives in California in charge of a large video game company. She also has Asian descent.
If any serious reader is looking for a romantic thriller, this is the book. The reader becomes part of the story and learns a new perspective on life. Check it out to find out what the new perspective is to life.
